- Night Shyamalan was able to pique the interest of audiences with his last film Old, and now he’s going for another cinematic brain twister with the upcoming film Knock at the Cabin. The film is set to come out in February, and we have a new trailer featuring Jonathan Groff, Dave Bautista, Rupert Grint, and more.
Check this out:
The official synopsis reads:
While vacationing at a remote cabin, a young girl and her parents are taken hostage by four armed strangers who demand that the family make an unthinkable choice to avert the apocalypse. With limited access to the outside world, the family must decide what they believe before all is lost.
Though the first teaser for the film was pretty vague when it came to the story, here everything is kind of laid out, with Bautista and his group being forced to hold a family hostage and them being made to make a decision where one of the three is sacrificed to save the Earth.
The plot kind of sounds like something close to Cabin in the Woods, but I guess the real mystery lies with how the strangers found themselves together, and how they know that making a sacrifice would stop the Earth from getting destroyed.
With Shyamalan at the helm, we can always expect something conceptually interesting with a new twist, but you better be ready for some cringe-y dialogue. Not even Old managed to scratch that off the Shyamalan list of tropes.
Catch Knock at the Cabin when it comes to theaters on Feb. 3, 2023.
