Kirk Beams Up in Teaser for 2nd Season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

James T. Kirk had infamously captained the USS Enterprise in the original Star Trek series, but Strange New Worlds has been focusing on the captain before Kirk, Christopher Pike, played by Anson Mount, The second season of SNW is set to premiere in June, and we have a new trailer giving us a new look at Kirk as well as the returning crew of the Enterprise.

Unlike other Trek series like Picard and Discovery, Strange New Worlds stands out as they return to the classic format of stand-alone episodes. While the series has been embracing a more serious tone over the past few years, the teaser gives us scenes like Spock drinking with Klingons and a classic time-travel episode with Kirk hanging out in the 21^st century.

There’s also said to be a crossover episode with Star Trek: Lower Decks, an animated spinoff series, and Tawny Newsome and Jack Quaid are said to be reprising their roles of Ensign Mariner and Ensign Boimler in live-action.

With the movies currently taking time in development, the TV side of Trek has definitely flourished over the past few years, spinning off and covering multiple genres. Though The Mandalorian may still be the show dominating Twitter, Trek fans can rest easy knowing there’s a load of content for them in the years to come.

Watch out for the second season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds when it premieres on Paramount+ on June 15.
