Kevin Feige: Expect Fewer Marvel Disney+ Shows to Release with Phase 5 and 6

The launch of Disney+ has allowed Marvel to shine the spotlight on some lesser known heroes with shows like Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight. And while we’re expecting more shows to come out o the platform, Marvel president Kevin Feige hints that the Marvel TV machine could be slowing down.

Talking to EW, Feige explains:

“I do think one of the powerful aspects of being at Marvel Studios is having these films and shows hit the zeitgeist. It is harder to hit the zeitgeist when there’s so much product out there — and so much “content,” as they say, which is a word that I hate. [Laughs] But we want Marvel Studios and the MCU projects to really stand out and stand above. So, people will see that as we get further into Phase 5 and 6. The pace at which we’re putting out the Disney+ shows will change so they can each get a chance to shine.”

Though the latter TV series had focused on smaller heroes like She-Hulk, the earlier shows like Loki, WandaVision, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier had centered on minor characters that we’ve already met with the films, and are being geared up for larger movie roles.

For now, we don’t know exactly what TV shows Marvel is working on, but we do know that we are getting a Daredevil reboot with Born Again, and we’re also getting a second season of Loki. Personally I would love a second season of She-Hulk, and I think there’s a lot of room to explore for Kamala after The Marvels.

For now, watch out for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania when it hits theaters on Feb. 17.
