Marvel Studios had done the impossible when they brought over every character from the MCU in Avengers: Endgame, but it looks like Kevin Feige wants to top that with the upcoming Secret Wars film.
According to a rumor from Heavy Spoilers (via The Direct), Kevin Feige is planning to have a crossover with every major iteration of Marvel IP with Avengers: Secret Wars, meaning that we could get an appearance from characters outside of the MCU from Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man to Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine from X-Men.
We don’t know how much of this is true, but it certainly tracks for the way the MCU has been evolving. With Maguire and Andrew Garfield appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it would make sense that Marvel would want to up the ante for big crossover movie. I mean, we already have Patrick Stewart’s Professor X in Doctor Strange, they just have to crank the cameos up to eleven.
I’ll admit, in the current comic book movie climate, fans are already starting to get wise on the instant gratification of nostalgia-baiting in movies, but properties like She-Hulk seem to have confirmed that Marvel is pretty much aware of the fatigue.
Hopefully Feige and his team manage to deliver something phenomenal with Avengers: Secret Wars, but I don’t really want to place all that pressure on his shoulders. As long as it’s a good film with great characters moments, I’m willing to forgive the cameos. Besides, I’d prefer to see new versions of characters anyway.
Avengers: Secret Wars is slated to release on May 1, 2026.
