Keira Knightley and Carrie Coon Star in True-Crime Trailer for Boston Strangler

With Netflix and their Jeffrey Dahmer series, it looks like Hulu wants in on that true-crime genre. Just in, we have a new trailer for Boston Strangler, and it stars Keira Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean) and Carrie Coon (The Leftovers).

Check this out:

Here’s the official description:

The film follows Loretta McLaughlin (Keira Knightley), a reporter for the Record-American newspaper, who becomes the first journalist to connect the Boston Strangler murders. As the mysterious killer claims more and more victims, Loretta attempts to continue her investigation alongside colleague and confidante Jean Cole (Carrie Coon), yet the duo finds themselves stymied by the rampant sexism of the era. Nevertheless, McLaughlin and Cole bravely pursue the story at great personal risk, putting their own lives on the line in their quest to uncover the truth.

Besides Knightley and Coon, the movie also stars Alessandro Nivola, David Dastmalchian, Morgan Spector, and Chris Cooper. The film is also written and directed by Matt Ruskin (Crown Heights) with Ridley Scott attached as a producer.

With Mindhunter no longer coming back to Netflix, I guess Boston Strangler will the dark true-crime series that genre fans can follow right now. Though the Dahmer show was a hit for Netflix, a lot of critics had said that it’s kind of odd that they would try and ‘glorify’ a serial killer. At least we know this film is focusing on the reporters that were trying to unmask the killer.

Boston Strangler comes to Hulu on March 17.
