UPDATE: Katy Perry has been officially confirmed as one of the judges for “American Idol.”
We all know that “American Idol” will be having both a huge reboot and new home in 2018 at ABC. Now, the show is looking to be legitimately apparent as it is now on the search for one of the most important elements of a TV live music talent show: the panel of judges. While speculations are arising as to who will be a part of the roster of judges, rumors suggest that Katy Perry is one of the big names set to be the first official panelist. If this turns out to be true, then we’re all in for an amazing “Idol” revival.
Katy Perry In ‘Active Talks’ For American Idol Judge Seat
According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources say that the “Chained to the Rhythm” singer is in “active talks” to be the first official judge on “American Idol.” However, Katy Perry hasn’t given an official comment nor confirm the report. While it’s still being treated with a grain of salt, not much is known as to who the other judges would be. What we do know is that Simon Cowell, one of the competition’s pioneer judges and creator, won’t be returning. He was recently interviewed by Extra about his possible return, but Cowell was firm in saying that he has no interest in coming back for the “Idol” reboot.
“I have no interest,” Cowell said. “My memories are when we first started. It was a different time with Randy [Jackson], Ryan [Seacrest] and Paula [Abdul]. You can’t recreate that.”
Bringing The Katy Perry Experience To ‘Idol’
Should the Katy Perry judge rumors ring true, it would certainly build up a new face and feel for “American Idol.” Perry is known to be full of positive energy and fun, and bringing these to the show would definitely hype up fans and contestants altogether. She knows how to make a performance that leaves people amazed and her music style can create storms on social media.
Before the show met it’s end last year, the news surrounding the show was deeply focused on the judges and not “Idol” and it’s contestants. The last judges were Harry Connick, Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban. Hopefully, Perry comes through and sticks to “Idol” for a couple of seasons.
