'American Horror Story' Season 8 to Bring Kathy Bates Back

“The Butcher” actress Kathy Bates will be back for another run in FX’s hit horror anthology series, “American Horror Story.” Director and AHS creator Ryan Murphy confirmed the announcement. He says that the eighth season of the show will air in September. Bates is a notorious character for playing roles in the past seven seasons of AHS. But in “AHS: Cult,” she wasn’t able to join the crew for conflict reasons with Netflix’s “Disjointed.” Now that Netflix canceled the show, Bates joins the cast once again.

American Horror Story: Radioactive

According to Entertainment Weekly, Murphy revealed that “American Horror Story” Season 8 might have “Radioactive” as the title, despite the fact that he’s not confirming or denying anything about the rumors surrounding the title. Murphy considers these rumors as an “interesting” idea. The director also confirmed other resident AHS stars joining the new season, namely Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters.

On the other hand, Netflix canceled Bates’ ill-fated stoner comedy show, “Disjointed” directed by Chuck Lorre. Part of the reasons why Bates wasn’t able to join “American Horror Story: Cult” was due to the filming schedule of the Netflix comedy. But with the show canceled after a season, Bates is back to rejoin Murphy’s team. The director also promised the fans that Bates’ role “will be meaty” this season. Murphy also said that Bates and Paulson would do a lot of things in the new AHS season, as with Peters.
Meanwhile, no further reports have surfaced for “American Horror Story” Season 8. But earlier this year, Murphy gave hints that some episodes might be in the works this year. If that’s the case, the show might adopt “an apocalyptic dystopia” theme. And with “Radioactive” as its possible title, the AHS narrative might arise from a nuclear explosion.
For now, the only thing “American Horror Story” fans have do is to wait until Summer. Murphy might even drop cryptic hints soon (just like he did in Cult) before the show airs in September this year.
