Ben Affleck assures fans that his take on the Dark Knight will be one that’s closer to the comics in the upcoming “Justice League” movie. Last year’s “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” gave Affleck’s portrayal the adoration of fans that his performance deserved. However, some fans criticized how his “Batman” is different, with him portrayed as an angry and violent character other than the more toned down version of the hero’s comic book counterpart.
A Less Angry Batman In Justice League
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Affleck revealed that although his version of “Batman” in “Dawn of Justice” distanced itself from the traditional portrayal, “Justice League” will feature a more calmed down Bruce Wayne from the more violent one we’ve seen in his previous movie.
“Batman started out with all this rage directed at Superman, because of his coworkers who had died in the fight Superman had with Zod. He was holding on to a lot of anger, in a little bit of an irrational way,” Affleck said. “Whereas this is a much more traditional Batman. He’s heroic. He does things in his own way, but he wants to save people, help people.”
Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight Might Just Be The Best
This is indeed good news to fans. Affleck also added that “Justice League” will be more faithful to its comic book counterpart, especially when it comes to “Batman.” This finally opens up the opportunity for fans to see the character’s detective side explored and to distinguish how his new version differs from the one in “Dawn of Justice.”
Though there is a particular group of fans who find Affleck’s performance as the most accurate portrayal of the Dark Knight, “Justice League” will prove how Afflecks claims to stand up to the criticism he is already amassing. If the biggest superhero team up of the DC Extended Universe will be the last time that Affleck will be playing Batman, at least he’ll go out in style and leave fans a memorable portrayal of the Dark Knight.
