Star Wars fans may be excited to see Jude Law come to the universe with the upcoming Skeleton Crew series, but he’s also going to be playing iconic Disney villain Captain Hook in the live-action remake of Peter Pan.
The movie is set to premiere on Disney+ later this month, and we have a new trailer giving us more of Neverland and Law’s version of Hook. Check this out:
It’s worth noting that the movie is directed by David Lowery, who recently had critics raving with his movie The Green Knight. Despite him being known for his auteur work, he has done some more commercial-friendly films like Pete’s Dragon; he’s also attached to direct an episode of Skeleton Crew, which also stars Law.
Going back to Peter Pan though, the movie has been criticized for its gray tone, but at this point, I don’t think Disney is going to be changing the visual style. I have to say though, with Lowery behind the camera, some of the shots in the trailers actually come off as pretty artsy; so I’m still interested to see how the movie will turn out.
Here’s the film synopsis:
“Peter Pan & Wendy” introduces Wendy Darling, a young girl looking to avoid boarding school who meets Peter Pan, a boy who refuses to grow up. Alongside her brothers and a tiny fairy, Tinker Bell, she travels with Peter to the magical world of Neverland. There, she encounters an evil pirate captain, Captain Hook, and embarks on a thrilling and dangerous adventure that will change her life forever.
Peter Pan & Wendy fly off to Neverland on April 28 only on Disney+.
