Jordan Peele is Back with a Creepy Trailer for Nope

Jordan Peele may have been one half of the comedy duo Key & Peele, but now he’s reinvented himself as one of the most unique directors in the industry today. Just in, we have a new trailer for his new film, Nope, which stars Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out), Keke Palmer (Hustlers), and Steven Yeun (Minari).

Watch this:

We can’t really put together what happens in the film based on visuals alone, but we do have this description:

Oscar® winner Jordan Peele disrupted and redefined modern horror with Get Out and then Us. Now, he reimagines the summer movie with a new pop nightmare: the expansive horror epic, Nope.

The film reunites Peele with Oscar® winner Daniel Kaluuya, who is joined by Keke Palmer and Oscar® nominee Steven Yeun as residents in a lonely gulch of inland California who bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.

Granted that Peele’s Us was kind of hard to wrap your head around, some audience members are hoping that Nope will have a more solid narrative, much like Peele’s Get Out. Putting the story aside though, Peele still has a unique eye for visuals, and the images in the teaser are enough to entice me to check the film out—even if the story may not make that much sense.

Ever since Peele’s first film, there seems to be a rise in socially relevant horror movies, with films like the new Candyman being themed around racism and white privilege. We don’t know what Nope has to say yet, but with Peele behind the camera, we can expect some more of that social commentary/horror that’s becoming his brand.

Catch Nope when it hits theaters on July 22.
