Joker: Folie a Deux Allegedly Takes Place in Arkham Asylum

While the first Joker movie gave us classic locales around Gotham like Wayne Manor, one other major location in the city is Arkham Asylum, which we see Joker incarcerated in by the end of the film. With the sequel incoming, a lot of fans are asking just where the story could go this time, and it seems we have some confirmation.
According to The Wrap, an inside source has said that Joker: Folie a Deux is going to take place largely in Arkham Asylum. We don’t have any more details beyond that, but it certainly tracks for the info we have about the movie. After all, Harley Quinn does fall in love with Joker in the asylum, and this movie allegedly follows the journey of the two coming together.
That being said, though Harley is famously touted as Joker’s girlfriend in the comics, fans know that the relationship is considered to be pretty one-sided. If the Joker is really ‘in love’ with one person, that would have to be Batman.
It’s unclear what director Todd Phillips is planning for this version of the Joker, seeing that the first film could pretty much stand on its own, but having the sequel take place in Arkham does offer the possibility to see other versions of Batman’s classic villains like the Penguin or Two-Face. Who knows, maybe we could see Arthur go full Joker in a third movie, and that’s where we’ll see the clash with the Dark Knight.
At least, that’s my pitch.
Catch Joker: Folie a Deux when it hits theaters Oct. 4, 2024.
