Join Will Arnett (and a Celebrity Guest) for Some Improv Murder Mysteries in First Trailer for Murderville

After some solid work on BoJack Horseman, Will Arnett is once again teaming up with Netflix for a new kind of murder mystery show. We got our first look at Murderville two weeks ago, and now we have a full trailer which shows off Arnett’s celebrity guests.
Watch this:
Eccentric detective Terry Seattle teams up with clueless celebrity guest stars to investigate a series of murders in this improvisational crime comedy.
The logline for the show also reads: “Solving crimes is hard. Improv comedy is harder.”
Murderville is actually based on a BBC3 series called Murder in Successville, which also had celebrity guests try to solve scripted crimes. The main difference is that the original show’s world was populated with famous “celebrities”, which gave the series an opportunity to get more laughs with celebrity impersonations. Murderville kind of drops the celebrity bit, and is just going for the main crime story.
Watching the trailer, it looks like the main objective for the show is to have the guest break character. It also doesn’t help that Arnett’s Terry Seattle sounds so serious despite being surrounded by so many gags. Hopefully the series gets a second season which would invite even more guests. I think it would be fun to see other improv specialists like Amy Poehler or Steve Carell. Maybe they can even land some high profile actors like Cate Blanchett or Ryan Reynolds.
Catch Murderville when all six episodes hit Netflix on Feb. 3.
