With John Krasinski’s appearance as Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, fans were convinced that he was set to be the main Mr. Fantastic of the MCU. Too bad though, because it looks like his role was more of a ‘one and done’ deal.
Talking to The Wrap, Krasinski has confirmed that he hasn’t had any talks with Marvel when it came to reprising his role for a Fantastic Four movie. He says, “There aren’t any discussions at all.”
This should come as a bummer for fans who have been fancasting Krasinki so hard online, but there is a chunk of fans who were convinced that the MCU was planning to find a younger actor to take on the role for the future.
Though Krasinki’s Mr. Fantastic run was short and sweet, he still has fond memories of being cast in the cameo and he leaves the door open for a future appearance. He says, “… Being turned into spaghetti wasn’t my end goal in life as far as how it goes in the Marvel universe, but you know what it was fun nonetheless.”
As of now, fans are still waiting on the future of Fantastic Four with WandaVision director Matt Shakman tasked to helm the film. Rumors are going around that it would be another period piece set in the 60s, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens in the future.
For now, the only Marvel project in theaters is Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
