John Green To Release New Book ‘Turtles All The Way Down’ In October, Tackles Mental Illness

The long wait is over because, after five years of waiting, John Green is set to publish a new book in October this year! After the author’s sixth novel, “The Fault In Our Stars”, which was way back in 2012, Green’s “Turtles All The Way Down” is coming to fans.

What’s Up With ‘Turtles All The Way Down’

Aside from Penguin Publishing House announcing the new book release, Green also makes the announcement on Twitter. The direct to the point tweet simply says “Turtles All the Way Down. October 10th 2017.” Fans, of course, are ecstatic. Even fellow writer Cassandra Clare, author of “The Mortal Instruments” series shows her support. She responds to his tweet with a “Congrats, peanut.”

The name of the book itself already gives off that John Green vibe comparing it to the previous titles of his books. He’s known for titles that are definitely attention catching, like “An Abundance of Katherines” and “Looking for Alaska.” Now, the next edition to his line of novels is “Turtles All The Way Down” and it’s nothing less from the expected.

Green’s new book is a rollercoaster ride once again with the main character, Aza Holmes, solving a mysterious disappearance. Although this isn’t just any ordinary disappearance because the missing person is a fugitive billionaire. That’s not even half of it because Holmes is also having her own battles with her mental illness.

Green’s Personal Touch To The Story

In regards to mental illness, it’s not just incorporated into the story randomly. Green expresses in a publisher’s release a personal connection to it. “This is my first attempt to write directly about the kind of mental illness that has affected my life since childhood,” he says. “So while the story is fictional, it is also quite personal,” Green adds.

The author has been open about his mental illness on his videos, even answering questions about it on a Reddit thread. Green reveals he suffers from an obsessive compulsive disorder in one of his vlogs. He also associates with both depression and anxiety.

Green’s novel “Turtles All The Way Down” will have an initial print run of 1.5 million copies. Green will also be signing 200, 000 copies.
