Star Wars fans are still waiting for the return of Finn to the big screen, but John Boyega has teamed up with Netflix for a different kind of movie.
As one of the big reveals for TUDUM 2022, Netflix has given us a look at They Clone Tyrone starring Boyega, Teyonah Parris (WandaVision), and Jamie Foxx (Spider-Man: No Way Home). Watch this:
The trailer isn’t really clear with what kind of plot we should expect, but it does feel like a melding of two tropes—one being a science-fiction conspiracy, and the other being a comedic street gangster film.
Though Boyega does play kind of bumbling as Finn in the Star Wars films, he does take one some more serious roles outside of the franchise. For one, his character in Attack the Block was a pretty rough-around-the-edges street kid; it looks like he’ll be playing the same kind of role in this film.
The same can’t be said for Jamie Foxx though, whose character just seems to be a huge source of comic relief. We don’t know exactly the relationship of the main trio is in this movie, but it’s just fun to watch the three have some fun in the elevator before the start of some kind of major bust.
Hopefully we get to see more of the movie soon.
Here’s the official description:
A series of eerie events thrusts an unlikely trio onto the trail of a nefarious government conspiracy in this pulpy mystery caper.
They Clone Tyrone is set to release on Netflix this coming Dec. 30.
