After Hereditary and Midsommar, fans are wondering what’s next for horror auteur Ari Aster. We had gotten a teaser poster for Beau is Afraid starring Joaquin Phoenix, and now we have a new poster which prominently features Phoenix and teases a trailer drop this Tuesday.

We don’t know the story for the movie yet, but it does come with the logline, “From His Darkest Fears Comes the Greatest Adventure.” It also looks like Phoenix is going to be playing one character over the course of his life, but as they’re all interacting with each other in the poster, we could be looking at some kind of time travel movie—or an elevated version of Eddie Murphy’s Nutty Professor films where Phoenix plays multiple characters.
Some critics who have also claimed to watch the beginning of movie have been saying that the film is a horror comedy of sorts, which would definitely be new for someone like Aster, who has mostly been known for his unsettling, disturbing horror movies.
Admittedly, Aster is coming out to have one of the most unique voices in cinema today, and every cinephile has been waiting for what he has to deliver next. Combine him with a powerhouse actor like Phoenix, and we could have something truly unique when it comes to the horror genre.
No release date has been announced for Beau is Afraid, but hopefully we can get the movie out sometime this year. Watch out for the trailer drop tomorrow.
