'Jessica Jones' Season 2 Tips Hat To The International Women's Day

“Jessica Jones” has taken three years building up this heroine’s comeback. Fittingly, “Jessica Jones” is coming back in the most badass way. Netflix will release the second season of the show right during the International Women’s Day celebration, March 8. But that’s just the first part.

Jessica Jones loves it

“Jessica Jones” does not only shed the spotlight for women on screen but also off screen. Last year, Mellisa Rosenberg, “Jessica Jones’s” executive producer and showrunner, announced that she wanted to increase the presence of female directors in the industry. She not only got her wish but also managed to get an all-female director label for the second season of “Jessica Jones.”

In an interview with Radiotimes, Rosenberg says that it’s about a balanced perspective, not solely a women’s perspective. She also said that having a compelling female heroine, women directors, and showrunners shouldn’t be something unique. In “Jessica Jones” season 2, Rosenberg said that working with so many women holding valuable positions normalized it. It changed the dynamic of the series, but the storytelling always remained about the character.
Even Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) is excited by the development of Jessica Jones. In an interview, Ritter expressed that Jessica is no ordinary superhero character. She’s vulnerable, and despite everything she’s been through, she continues to prove herself not just to be physically strong but in all other aspects as well.

Another feature that sets apart “Jessica Jones” is that it’s all too realistically human. Rosenberg said in an interview that “Jessica Jones” isn’t about the superhuman strength and badass antics but living as a human being. As Eka Darville, who plays Malcolm Ducasse in the series, said: “Jessica Jones” Season 2 isn’t trying to save the world. Like normal human beings with just a bit more of everything, they’re just trying to survive and fight their own demons.

“Jessica Jones” season 2, what’s the badass gonna do next?

Jessica is finally free of Kilgrave’s control. But something darker has come to torment the heroine, which is her past. In “Jessica Jones” season 2, Jessica and the world could hopefully find the answers that have always been lurking around the corner. As new cases surface for the detective heroine, she will be forced to confront who and what she really is. The car accident, the mysterious IGH group and her powers—Jessica will be forced to dissect every little detail to find every answer she needs.
Secrets aside, Jessica’s new life will not lack some romance. There’s nothing that can be done with her relationship with Luke Cage. There were also leaked set photos of Jessica locking lips with an unknown man. Jessica’s old enemy Kilgrave won’t also be totally gone. There are speculations that he will return in “Jessica Jones” season 2 but, only as some sort of ghost or phantom memory.
