Jessica Chastain Now In Talks For 'It: Chapter Two' As Beverly Marsh

If you loved Sophia Lillis’ take on Beverly Marsh in Andy Muschietti’s 2017 horror blockbuster “It,” chances are you’re caught up in the hoo-ha on who’s going to play the older Bev. As soon as “It” became the highest-grossing horror film of all time, rumors began to spread about who the actress for Bev as an adult would be. “It: Chapter Two” is undoubtedly happening next year, but we have yet to find out about the adult actors of the Loser’s Club. However, it looks like Jessica Chastain is the strongest actress in the running for Beverly Marsh.

Back in September, Slash Film came up with a list of potential actors for the adult Losers Club in “It: Chapter Two.” Among the top picks for Bev were Chastain, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Maggie Gyllenhaal. In the midst of all the speculation, though, it was Chastain who got the support of most fans—even director Muschietti and Sophia Lillis herself. So it doesn’t come as a surprise that Chastain is the only one in talks to star as the boyish redhead.

Jessica Chastain might just be our new and only adult Beverly for ‘It: Chapter Two.’

In a report by Variety, Chastain is a few steps closer to closing in on a lead role for Muschietti’s “It: Chapter Two.” According to the news outfit’s sources, negotiations are early, and Gary Dauberman is still writing the script. However, both Warner Bros. and Chastain’s camp have begun discussing the specifics of her role in the upcoming “It” sequel.
Of course, Chastain has previously worked with Muschietti in his first horror hit, “Mama.” Rumors even suggested that Chastain was supposed to have a cameo towards the end credits of “It,” but it never happened. That said, Chastain looks the part, and she’s done great in all her previous films, with a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in “Molly’s Game.”

“It: Chapter Two” will continue the story of the Losers Club as they go into adulthood and pursue careers of their own. However, when the threat of Pennywise strikes again in the infamous town of Derry, Maine, their adult versions must have to fulfill their promise to go back and end Pennywise’s threat once and for all. Muschietti will direct the sequel, and Bill Skarsgård will return as the horrific demon-alien-clown Pennywise.
“It: Chapter Two” is currently slated for release on September 6, 2019.
