Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence seems to be slowing things down with her last film being Don’t Look Up back in 2021, but now she’s teamed up with Apple TV+ for a more serious drama.
This is the trailer for Causeway:
Here’s the official synopsis:
A US soldier suffers a traumatic brain injury while fighting in Afghanistan and struggles to adjust to life back home.
Besides Lawrence, the movie also includes Brian Tyree Henry, who a lot of fans know best for his work on FX’s Atlanta. I guess he was also in Marvel’s Eternals, but you could forget half of the things that happened in that film.
If anything, Causeway looks to be a compact, serious drama. At some point, it even felt like a sequel to Silver Linings Playbook and I was half-expecting Bradley Cooper to make some kind of appearance. I guess it’s also worth noting that this is the first feature film for director Lila Neugebauer, who had worked on episodes of Room 104 and The Sex Lives of College Girls.
This should be a great comeback to the screen for Lawrence, who has since toned down her big screen appearances since the X-Men films. Sure she was in those Hunger Games movies, but she hasn’t appeared in anything as big as Mother! Or Passengers in a long while. Fingers crossed that Causeway will mark a comeback for one of the highest paid actresses of the mid-2010s.
Causeway hits theaters and Apple TV+ on Nov. 4.
