Jenna Ortega is Wednesday in First Teaser for Addams Family Spinoff

After starring in the latest Scream movie, Jenna Ortega is going to be taking center stage for another ‘mysterious and spooky’ show. Watch her in the first teaser for the Addams Family spinoff, Wednesday:

The official synopsis for the show reads:

A sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago – all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.

Besides Ortega, the series also has a star-studded cast which includes Luis Guzman as Gomez Addams and Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams. Other members of the cast include Gwendoline Christie , Jamie McShane, and Riki Lindhome. Even original Wednesday actress Christina Ricci is said to be a member of the cast (what are the odds that she’s narrating as an adult Wednesday?).

Though Wednesday may be the star of the show, we should expect an appearance from her other family members. We know Gomez and Morticia will be here, but what about her brother Pugsly, as well as Grandma Addams and Uncle Fester. At least we know that the severed hand Thing is going to be there.

Even when it was announced I always thought that the series felt like The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, but with Tim Burton at the helm, I think we can expect something gothic, yet family friendly.

No release date has been set for Wednesday, but we should expect the series to hit Netflix sometime within the year.
