Jane the Virgin Season 3 returns this week on The CW. The fans’ favorite artificially simulated feisty Latina is back, and she is still the same ol’ Jane from last year’s spring finale. Chapter Fifty-two was a feel good episode with tensions building up between Petra (Yael Grobglas) and Rafael (Justin Baldoni) in the other half of the episode. Here’s a look back into the mid-season finale.
Jane the Virgin Season 3 Episode 8: Jane meets Mr. Let It Bee
Meddling is not new to Jane the Virgin, as every character meddles into each other’s life. But only because they care. So Jane having an opinion about her family’s personal life is her way of saying she cares. At the same time, it’s about Jane thinking she knows best.
Jane would have the urge to butt into either her husband Michael’s career choices or her father Rogelio’s choice to have a baby with his matchmaker. But whenever she’s about to say her piece a cute little hand puppet named Mr. Let It Bee pops out of nowhere, giving her a reason why she shouldn’t, even if her husband’s career path ideas weren’t reassuring her silence.
Her mother Xo’s rekindled relationship with an old flame named Bruce is a hard pill for Jane to swallow. And it’s a situation even Mr. Bee cannot talk her out of. Gina Rodriguez plays off Jane’s meddlesome ways as somewhat cute especially with a puppet involved.
Jane the Virgin Season 3 Episode 8: Petra finds out Rafael’s secret
Fans are awaiting answers to the cliff hanger in the spring finale. What is Rafael’s real family status? It turns out his mother was in a convent, and he was adopted. Yes, Rafael Solano is not a true Solano. But what does that mean for his inheritance?
There will be no complications if nobody finds out the truth or gets hold of his birth certificate. But there’s Petra, mother of his twins and his ex-wife, hell bent on making sure the Marbella will be hers. As if Rafael has nothing else to worry about, Petra would be controlling him once again via blackmail. One wrong move and Rafael’s secret will be out — and so with his bank account.
Jane the Virgin might say goodbye to Michael Cordero
The Narrator has been putting a dark cloud over Michael’s future, almost hinting the character’s death (again). Brett Dier (who plays Michael Cordero) reportedly asked the showrunners for his character’s early exit. So this might mean a short-lived marriage between Jane and Michael, which might leave fans devastated.
The next episode will be focusing more on the children, Jane’s son Mateo and Rogelio’s plan on having a baby with his matchmaker, Darci. Episode 9, though, is expected to leave more questions about Rafael Solano’s inheritance and family tree.
Jane the Virgin Season 3, Episode 9 will air Jan. 30 on The CW.
