Last December may have had Jamie Foxx clashing with Spider-Man, but this August he’s going to be pulling a modern Van Helsing with the help of Snoop Dogg and Dave Franco.
Check out the new trailer for Day Shift:
The official synopsis reads:
Jamie Foxx stars as a hard working blue collar dad who just wants to provide a good life for his quick-witted daughter, but his mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his real source of income, hunting and killing vampires as part of an international Union of vampire hunters.
With shows like What We Do in the Shadows putting is in the shoes of the vamps, it’s actually become uncommon that you get a story about the people who are hunting them down. That being said, it looks like the series is not so much about humanizing vampires, but rather turning them into unique enemies for the hunters to battle—what with them being contortionists now that move really fast.
While Foxx has proven himself a solid lead, he does have some supporting cast with Snoop Dogg and James Franco. While Franco is still pretty good when it comes to comedy, his character here seems to be the wimpiest that he’s played so far. As for Snoop, he does seem like a pretty laid back mentor character, but it’s going to be great to have him join the fight and take on some vampires as well.
Day Shift premieres on Netflix on Aug. 12.
