Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will take place after Avengers: Infinity War. The end of the latest Avengers installment was shocking, but it also made a one of a kind problem for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Infinity War ended by wiping out half of the universe’s population, including every member of the Guardians of the Galaxy (except Rocket and Nebula).
The sudden “deaths” might not be not permanent unless Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will solely focus on Rocket and Nebula.
On the other hand, Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo made it clear that the deaths are neither permanent or temporary. In an interview with Kinowetter, the directors clarified the situation following the fallout of Infinity War. “Here’s the thing, I think it’s important to remember anything is possible in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Just because there’s a sequel on the books doesn’t mean people become accustomed to time moving linearly in the Marvel Cinematic Universe,” Anthony said. “That doesn’t necessarily have to be the case. There’s a lot of very inventive ways of where the story can go.”
“There are four years between Guardians 2 and Infinity War. That’s a long time, and a lot of Guardians storied tell,” Joe said. “Again, as Anthony said, don’t expect everything to move forward in a linear fashion in the Marvel Universe.” Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt also said that Vol. 3 might take place in the past and will serve as a prequel—not after Infinity War.
Although, according to Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be the last Guardians movie in his trilogy. Surely, it will be an emotional and heartwarming film to complete the storyline.
Well I mean Vol 3 will end this iteration of the Guardians and complete the story of the three films. https://t.co/3mvpOqNVtr
