With James Gunn and Peter Safran set to reboot the DCEU universe, a lot of fans are disappointed that characters like Superman and Batman would be recast. As it turns out, There is a rumor going around that Gunn will be keeping the cast of his DC projects like The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, but that won’t be the case.
As confirmed by Gunn on Twitter, every character in the DCEU is set to be recast, and The Suicide Squad characters are no exception. Here’s his post:
I keep seeing posts with this untrue theory. We're not recasting everyone except The Suicide Squad.

We don’t know exactly how Gunn’s reboot of the DCU will work, but a lot of fans are guessing it will have something to do with The Flash and its tackling of multiverses.
Admittedly, it has been a tough newsweek for the DC fans. After all the years supporting comebacks for Henry Cavill and being optimistic about the universe, they’re suddenly looking at a full reboot. There is already talk about Zachary Levi being done with Shazam! after Fury of the Gods, and I think he’s barely got to sink his teeth on that role yet.
Personally, I was backing the restoration of the Snyder characters moving forward, and I was definitely happy to see Henry Cavill back as Superman in Black Adam. We don’t know what Gunn is planning in the next decade, but it better be something solid, because he just threw out years of fan dedication and support for a specific version of the DCEU.
We don’t know when Gunn will reveal his grand plan, but hopefully we have something right before the year ends.
