The DC fandom was kind of thrown a huge curve-ball yesterday with The Hollywood Reporter saying multiple things like the Man of Steel sequel was being cancelled, Wonder Woman 3 is dead in the water, and Aquaman Jason Momoa is being recast as Lobo.
Immediately a lot of fans had decided to react online with #FireJamesGunn suddenly trending, and after a day of uncertainty, Gunn has decided to address the article, confirming that some of it isn’t true, but there are also some parts of the report that were spot on. He says:
So. As for the story yesterday in the Hollywood Reporter, some of it is true, some of it is half-true, some of it is not true, & some of it we haven’t decided yet whether it’s true or not.

With Gunn having been fired from Marvel and then re-hired, some fans would think that he would embrace the creatives that had been ‘wronged’ by the previous DC management from David Ayer to Zack Snyder, and after the return of Henry Cavill in Black Adam, a cancelled Man of Steel project is the last thing that fans want to hear.
I’m willing to give Gunn the benefit of the doubt, but I think the cancellation of the established Snyderverse is definitely going to be on the table if they want to make these ‘creative possibilities’ happen in the main DCEU. I guess it must be nerve-wracking for fans who have been backing the Snyderverse for years since we don’t have any details yet, but at this point, it’s rumored that DC wants to wait out the results of Aquaman 2 and The Flash’s box office before they make any more decisions about moving forward.
Will we have to wait until June? I sure hope not, but if that’s what Gunn and Safran are planning then I guess it’s up to them.
