It’s back to the Wizarding World with the “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” sequel as the film’s principal photography is already ongoing. Say hello once more to Eddie Redmayne, who plays Newt Scamander, and the rest of the film’s cast. But there’s more to welcome in the sequel, like new cast members, plot details and revelations.
What To Expect: Team Albus And Newt
There’s a little bit of here and there emerging from the start of the film’s shooting, not too much, but there are details. Warner Bros. Studio reveals that the new Fantastic Beasts film will feature New York, London, and Paris as settings. This makes sense since in the first film Scamander was set to travel to Europe on a boat from New York.
While for the plot, the sequel is where Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) makes his grand escape and starts recruiting followers. Of course, the dark wizard has to face defeat for good to triumph over evil. Who else to do this than Grindelwald’s former best friend, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law). Dumbledore does not face him alone though, he seeks the help of his former student Newt Scamander. He is the best choice after all since he once defeated Grindelwald already.
The Return Of Credence And Jacob
The sequel also paves way for Newt’s reunion with some comrades. These are namely Tina (Katherine Waterston), and Queenie (Alison Sudol). But It isn’t all throughout a happy reunion since loyalties are put to the test too. One other unlikely companion of Newt is also to return, and that’s Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler), who had his memory wiped out. Credence (Ezra Miller) will also return in a “mysterious way,” Warner Bros. expresses. It looks like his role in the first film wasn’t totally the end of him.
New characters will also appear such as Grimmson the bounty hunter (Ingvar Sigurdsson), and Wizard Yusuf Kama (William Nadylam). An owner of a wizarding circus, Skender (Ólafur Darri Ólafsson), also appears along with circus attraction Claudia Kim.
Fans will also see characters like Newt’s older brother and Auror Theseus Scamander (Callum Turner). And let’s not forget Zoë Kravitz as Leta Lestrange. Also to the delight of “Harry Potter” fans, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” will have various nods to the “Harry Potter” world.
The screenplay for “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is written by J.K. Rowling. It’s part of a five-picture series with David Yates returning as the sequel director. According to Warner Bros Studio, the sequel is set to release on November 2018.
