IT’S MORBIN’ TIME: The Boys Pokes Fun at Morbius and Its Double Flop in Theaters

The Boys is great in that it manages to satirize nearly everything about the superhero genre, and with the recent #MorbiusSweep going all around the internet, the official Vought account has decided to poke fun at the film and its ill-fated re-release.
Here’s the Vought account teasing ITS-MAEVIN-TIME:
#DawnOfTheSeven is back! Despite still being in theaters, we heard all of your tweets and will be re-releasing the film this week! Don’t miss your chance to re-live all the action: use code ITS-MAEVIN-TIME to get a discount on your second ticket until June 30. pic.twitter.com/Mqh7yhc4T5

If you’ve watched The Boys and scour the internet at the same time, you’ll definitely love how deep-cut some of the humor is when it comes to the show. Dawn of the Seven itself is a joke about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and the series has poked fun at almost everything the superhero genre permeates in pop-culture—from Stormfront using online trolls to ‘Voughtland’ shamelessly pandering to Queen Maeve’s sexuality after she is publicly outed.
With Marvel and DC films being as popular as ever, I don’t think The Boys is going to be feeling stale soon. There’s always a lot of material to choose from in the future; I just hope they also don’t run out of content when it comes to the characters. Homelander has been delightfully getting more and more unhinged in the season, and his rivalry with Butcher is becoming more and more apparent. Let’s just hope that the rest of the Boys (and Starlight) will manage to survive until the end of the season, and maybe until Vought gets taken down for good.
