Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was supposed to come out this year, but Sony Pictures Animation had decided to delay the release to June of 2023. The start of the week had promised a new trailer for the movie, and we now have our new look at Miles’ next adventure.
Check this out:
Here’s the official synopsis:
Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar®-winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.
While the trailer does have a lot of flashbacks from Miles in Into the Spider-Verse, we do get a look at all the different Spider-people, including a returning Peter B. Parker, who looks to have finally gotten a kid with MJ in his universe.
The trailer also confirms that there will be some kind of ‘Spider-Verse’ war, and it will have Spider-Man 2099 as the face of the opposition. We don’t know where the story will ultimately go, but I do love the idea of Spider-Man having to go up against a multiverse of his alternate selves rather than the usual villain from the classic roster.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set to hit theaters on June 2, 2023.
