The second trailer for Stephen King’s new adaptation of the “IT Movie” has finally dropped online. Back in the 90’s original movie, the town of Derry, Maine has been terrorized by a vicious clown-devil-spirit named Pennywise (played by Tim Curry) for hundreds of years. Turns out, he’s The Losers’ Club’s greatest foe as he knows all their fears. Because of Curry’s exceptional performance as Pennywise, many kids who grew up watching the TV movie had or still has a lasting fear of clowns, or in proper terms, coulrophobia.
‘IT Movie’ Trailer: Pennywise Knows Your Fears
The first “IT Movie” trailer offered glimpses of the movie that was far more faithful to the book than the 90’s adaptation. It was met with widespread acclaim and brought previous “IT Movie” fans and newbies back to the cursed town of Derry. The second trailer that has just been released was actually shown during the San Diego Comic-Con last weekend. It seemed to terrify some people in attendance, and now Warner Bros. sees it fit to finally unveil the second “It Movie” trailer to the general public. Check it out below:
At long last, we finally saw Bill Skarsgård’s Pennywise in action. The previous “IT Movie” trailer and images only teased a few appearances, which were all terrifying in their own right. Perhaps the best part of the trailer (or the previous movie) was Georgie’s Denbrough’s untimely demise at the hand of Pennywise. The sailing paper boat made by Bill for Georgie only made things even worse, as Georgie was taken into the sewers by Pennywise as the little boy chased after it. This also gives us a new look where Pennywise speaks, and his voice is enough to send any kid or adult screaming and running for their lives.
The clown is also featured in yet another bone-tingling action, this time with Richie Tozier (played by none other than Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard). After Richie enters a room full of dummy clowns, he encounters Pennywise at the end of the room as the clown jumps from a piano and chases after poor Richie.
It looks like we’ll all need to bring our raincoats and get ready to float once “IT” hits theaters September 8th.
