Is This Namor’s New Origin in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever?

Marvel hasn’t given us a look at the next Black Panther movie yet, but the rumor mill continues to churn. We know that the King of Atlantis Namor will be making an appearance in the film played by actor Tenoch Huerta, but it looks like Marvel will be shaking up his origin to not make him seem too similar to Aquaman.

This was posted by Knight Edge Media’s Caleb Williams:

We don’t know how legitimate the leak is, but it does track for how Marvel has been treating their characters and vice versa. Shazam! had decided to ditch the ‘Captain Marvel’ mantle after Disney released their version, and now Marvel will change the city of Atlantis to something else because DC has their own version of a hidden underwater in Aquaman.

I guess it ultimately boils down to execution, and I’m always up for any shakeups that are done to stories—as long as they are more on the creative side of things. Personally, I think Namor has always been similar to the stoic version of Aquaman, being an Atlantean who ‘doesn’t want to meddle with the affairs of surface dwellers,’ but with the right treatment and character motivation, he could come out just as important a character as T’Challa did.

We’ll just have to wait and see.

We don’t know when Marvel will give us our first look, but I’m guessing it’s going to come out right around the release of Thor: Love and Thunder in July.

Namor is set to make his MCU debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever which hits theaters Nov. 11.
