Is That Michael Keaton’s Batman on the Set of Batgirl?

Batgirl may not have shown up in DC’s teaser for their 2022 slate, but fans can be rest assured that the movie is definitely shooting, and it’s coming to HBO Max. While we’ve known that the film will include Batman characters like Jim Gordon and Firefly, a new set photo has given us a look at Batman himself, and it looks like he’s played by Michael Keaton.

Though I did say Keaton, it’s not really sure if this will be him in the movie—all we really have to work on is the yellow bat symbol on the chest. If the character is Keaton’s Dark Knight, this would mean that the rumors of The Flash establishing Keaton as the main Batman of the DCEU were true. It’s a real bummer for Batfleck fans, but it seems that Affleck is pretty done with the role, and no amount of fan-begging is going to change his (or WB’s) mind.

As for Batgirl, it’s still unclear what Batman’s role in the movie will be. Will he be like Tony Stark in Spider-Man: Homecoming? Or will he be more like Mr. Incredible to Batgirl’s Incrediboy?

With production still ongoing for Batgirl, it’s possible that the movie is going to be making its HBO Max debut sometime in 2023. Though it would be great to add Batgirl to the 2022 slate, it would have to compete with the rest of the comic book properties that are coming out—not just DC titles, but Marvel as well.

No official release date has been announced for Batgirl, but Keaton’s Batman is set to appear in The Flash which comes out on Nov. 4, 2022.
