Invincible Star Steven Yeun Joins Marvel’s Thunderbolts

Steven Yeun voices the lead of Amazon’s Invincible, but it looks like he’s jumping over to a live-action superhero franchise.

As per Deadline, Yeun has been cast in the upcoming villain team-up Thunderbolts. We don’t have any specifics about his part, but it’s said that he’s been cast in a key role that’s ‘not only significant to this film but could also play a role going forward in future films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.’

While castings of actors like Bill Murray and William Jackson Harper ended up as pretty forgettable roles in Quantumania, fans are hoping that Yeun gets cast in a very significant part; especially if they want him to return in future projects. Some think that Yeun could end up playing Spider-Man villain Mr. Negative, but a rumor is going around that Sentry is going to be in the film, and it would be great if Yeun could end up in the role of the mentally unstable metahuman.

Besides rumors of Sentry appearing, it’s said that Thunderbolts will be dealing with the dead Celestial that showed up in the middle of the ocean in Eternals. It’s said that countries will all be fighting over who gets to own the land because it contains Adamantium (the unbreakable metal Wolverine’s claws are made of); and it will be up to the Suicide Squa— Thunderbolts to acquire the precious metal.

With the movie coming out in the middle of next year, we’ll probably get a plot breakdown near the end of 2023.

Catch Thunderbolts when it arrives in theaters July 26, 2024. In the meantime, watch out for Yeun in Invincible which is set to return to Amazon Prime Video later this year.
