The trailer for “Insidious: The Last Key” has been officially released. Original article as follows:
The first trailer for the fourth installment of the “Insidious” franchise will drop very soon, as the rating for the movie has just been given. A new title for the film is also possibly revealed.
“Insidious” follows the story of paranormal investigator Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) and her close encounters with ‘The Further,’ an otherworldly plane for ghosts and supernatural demons that act as a temporary place for them to linger. The place can be accessed via astral projection. As some beings from this dimension torment a family, Elise puts her life on the line just to help those possessed and afflicted by the demons of The Further.
“Insidious: Chapter 2” was a direct sequel to the first film, but Chapter 3 was a prequel that focused mainly on Elise’ early life as a paranormal psychologist and her two ghost hunters Specs (Leigh Whannell) and Tucker (Angus Sampson). “Insidious: Chapter 3” ended with Elise discovering an entity that has come to haunt and terrorize her life, which then leads to Chapter 4.
‘Insidious: The Last Key’ is the new title?
The British Board of Film Classification recently announced that the “Insidious: Chapter 4” trailer has officially been rated and that it’s ready for release anytime soon. The trailer is at 61 seconds and passed by the BBFC uncut. It’s most likely to show this week, the same time that the “It Movie” will be released.
It’s also worth noting that the listing for the movie reads “Insidious: The Last Key,” which means that the franchise’s newest entry will break away from the chapter titles. However, it’s also worth noticing that “Insidious: The Last Key” might just be the official UK title for the film, which also means that there will be a different title for the US and worldwide release.
“The Last Key,” on the other hand, has been used in a number of marketing materials such as the Insidious-themed maze at the Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights for this year. This could mean that it might also be the title for the US release of “Insidious.”
That being said, “Insidious: The Last Key” will surely be a pivotal move for the narrative of “Insidious: Chapter 4,” since this installment also focuses on Elise and her own haunting. Shaye, Whannell, and Sampson are all set to reprise their roles. Adam Robital will direct, with the script written by Leigh Whannell.
“Insidious: Chapter 4” is slated for a January 5, 2018 release.
