We’ve seen Willem Dafoe torment Robert Pattinson in The Lighthouse and Tom Holland in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but now it looks like it’s his turn to get tortured onscreen.
Just in, we have a new trailer for Inside, which has Dafoe trapped inside a house full of art. Watch this:
Here’s the official description:
INSIDE tells the story of Nemo, an art thief trapped in a New York penthouse after his heist doesn’t go as planned. Locked inside with nothing but priceless works of art, he must use all his cunning and invention to survive.
While the film does start out like a usual ‘guy is trapped’ story with him trying to call for help or finding out what to eat, the trailer kind of slowly descends to Dafoe’s character going crazy and getting influenced by the art in the house as well.
We don’t know why this Nemo turned out to be an art thief, but it’s interesting to think that he was also an artist as well.
I have to say, it’s pretty interesting that Focus Features has started investing on these more artsy projects. Though A24 basically has that market down, Focus had teamed up with Robert Eggers for The Northman (which also starred Dafoe). Inside looks like it’s pretty much in the same vein as these art movies, and I think that’s pretty interesting for the studio to go that direction.
Inside is slated to release in theaters on March 10, 2023.
