After the lackluster reception of The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Lucasfilm is set to try another stab at the sendoff of Harison Ford’s Indiana Jones. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is set to come out June next year, and we have our fantastic first trailer featuring a de-aged Harrison Ford, some evil Nazis, and more.
Check this out:
Admittedly, the plot is still unknown for the movie, but it is set against the backdrop of the space race, with Mads Mikkelsen’s character said to be a Nazi working for NASA who is in search of some kind of artifact that will change the world.
Where artifacts are involved, you know that Indy is going to be brought into the fold, and this time we have a new young co-lead in the form of Phoebe Waller-Bridge who is playing Indy’s goddaughter Helena. I wonder if they’ll even try to explain what happened to Indy’s son Mutt since they won’t be bringing back Shia LaBeouf for this sequel.
Though some fans are bummed that Steven Spielberg won’t be coming back to helm Dial of Destiny, I think it’s pretty great that they got James Mangold to take on the franchise. Though Logan is pretty far from an Indiana Jones adventure, I think the trailer pretty much captures the spirit of the franchise, and I think Mangold can give the character the sendoff he deserves.
Catch Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny when it hits theaters June 30, 2023.
