For now, the plot of Indy 5 still hasn’t been officially revealed, but rumor is going around that it will have something to do with the Apollo moon landing in the 60s. Seeing that Raiders of the Lost Ark took place in the ‘30s, a 40-year time-jump would put the Indiana Jones timeline somewhere around the early ‘70s.
Besides Harrison Ford, the movie also includes the likes of Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, and Antonio Banderas. Phoebe Waller-Bridge has also been cast in the film, and it’s speculated that she is being set up to be the new lead of the franchise. Then again, this could be the send-off for the Indiana Jones character that Kingdom of the Crystal Skull didn’t end up being. After all, this is being directed by the guy who made Logan.
We don’t know when Lucasfilm is ready to give us a look at Indy 5, but it’s possible we could get some kind of teaser near the end of the year. A lot of fans are worried about the state of the film after the multiple delays and director changes, but hopefully Harrison Ford gets to cap off another one of his most iconic characters.
Indiana Jones 5 is set to come out on June 30, 2023.
