Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen is no doubt the star of the Hunger Games franchise, but we also have a lot of great characters surrounding her—one of which is Johanna Mason played by Jena Malone.
It’s been seven years since the release of the last Hunger Games film, and in a recent post on IG, Malone reveals that she was actually sexually assaulted by a co-worker when she was working on The Mockingjay – Part 2. Here’s her post:

‘This time in Paris was extremely hard for me , was going thru a bad break up and also was sexually assaulted by someone I had worked with… I wish it wasn’t tied to such a traumatic event for me but that is the real wildness of life I, I guess,” Malone wrote.
Malone didn’t reveal the identity of her attacker, but she did add, ‘I’ve worked very hard to heal and learn thru restorative justice, how to make peace with the person who violated me and make peace with myself.’
Malone did also say that she has had a complicated relationship with the character of Johanna through the years, but says that she is now ready to move on and is willing to show support for her fellow survivors.
With Johanna being a fan-favorite around the height of the Hunger Games franchise, it’s certainly sad to know that Malone connects it with a traumatizing experience, but at least she has been forward about what happened to her, and is willing to urge others to heal as well.
