The second episode of House of the Dragon had ended with King Viserys deciding to marry a young Alicent Hightower, and though we should expect to watch the repercussions in the next episode, it seems we won’t get to see them immediately.
As it turns out, the third episode of House of the Dragon will feature a two-year time skip, and we’ll get to see Viserys and Alicent already married after a while with a baby Aegon Targaryen. This was also confirmed by the preview for the next episode:
Though the series may have set-up the main clash to be between Rhaenyra and Daemon, it seems that the inclusion of Baby Aegon is going to add another cog in the wheel. I guess it also goes without saying that a romance between Alicent and Rhaenyra seems to be implied, hence Rhaenyra’s outrage when it’s revealed that king Viserys will be marrying her best friend.
So far, House of the Dragon has been enjoying a huge reception, and a lot of fans have quickly taken to the new Targaryen characters. I guess after the disappointment of the Game of Thrones finale, it’s nice to be reminded that Westeros is just more than the final season, and there’s a lot to love about the world, from the unique geography to the expansive lore of the houses and kingdoms.
