House of the Dragon: Get Inside the Latest Episode The Princess and the Queen

House of the Dragon just made a major shift in that they made a jump of 10 years in the story, and now we’re meeting the grown-up versions of Rhaenyra and Alicent. With every new episode, HBO drops a new featurette giving us an inside look at the characters and what their motivations were in the latest chapter.

The episode does feature a lot of major moments for characters, like the death of Laena Velaryon and the murder of Lyonel and Harwin Strong on the behest of the ‘Clubfoot’ Larys Strong—setting up the stage for sides being taken.

We also see Rhaenyra moving her family to Dragonstone, and actress Emma D’Arcy says the character had stayed in the Red Keep for so long because she couldn’t shake the feeling that if she left, Alicent would be free to destroy her reputation with her father. D’Arcy explains, “This fear of ill-feeling being fed to her father by Alicent is so present, it sits on her; and it’s the thing that currently ties her to King’s Landing and stops her being able to leave.”

While book readers are all pretty sure where all of this will go down, fans of the show are just enjoying the emotional roller coaster ride of power plays and family scandals. There may not be any white walkers planning to take over the kingdom, but I’m sure the multiple dragons makes up for the lack of ice zombies.
