Disney had introduced us to the wicked Sanderson Sisters way back in the 90s with the first Hocus Pocus, and nearly thirdy years later, the trio are set to come back and wreak havoc on Salem.
Watch the new teaser for Hocus Pocus 2:
It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve.
The film brings back original Sanderson actresses Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimi to reprise their roles as the witches. The series has even brought back Doug Jones to reprise his part as Billy Buutcherson.
Besides returning cast mates, the film has also brought in actors Whitney Peak, Hannah Waddingham, Tony Hale, and Sam Richardson.
In the original movie, the Sanderson Sisters were 17th century witches who were brought back to life in the town of Salem. With their magic and quirky attitudes, they seek to cause all kind of trouble—and we should expect more of the same when it comes to this sequel.
While some like to go full on horror for the Halloween season with violent films franchises like Scream or, well, Halloween, Hocus Pocus falls in the more kid-friendly genre, in that you have all those Halloween elements, but you shouldn’t expect your kids to lose sleep over them. It’s just good, spooky fun.
Hocus Pocus 2 comes to Disney+ on Sept. 30.
