Phil Lord and Chris Miller may be gearing up for the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, but one of their first series is set to have its revival on HBO Max with Clone High. The show is et to premiere later this month, and we have a new trailer showcasing all the shenanigans with the younger version of historical icons.
Check this out:
The synopsis reads:
A modern refresh of the hit series of the same name, CLONE HIGH follows a high school for clones of the greatest minds in history. Twenty years after the original experiment was put on ice, Joan, JFK, Abe, and Cleo have been thawed out to resume school with their new clone classmates – all while navigating a new set of cultural norms and overly dramatic teen relationships.
While a lot of the main cast has come back, some characters from the original had been pulled out, specifically Ghandi who was considered an offensive portrayal. With the show tackling the modern sensitivities of teens, we should expect them to address why Ghandi had to be removed from the show.
Even though they dropped Ghandi, we are getting some more new characters with Confucius, Harriet Tubman, Chris Columbus, and Frida Khalo. We should also expect some guest historic icons to appear in some episodes as well.
Though HBO Max had recently done a purge of their content, it’s kind of insane how Clone High managed to make it out alive. Hopefully the show is good, and should introduce a whole new audience to these irresponsible clones.
Clone High premieres on HBO Max on May 23.
