Even before Black Adam released, it had already leaked that Henry Cavill was making an appearance as Superman, and a lot of people are wondering just what that means for the character’s future on the big screen.
Now Henry Cavill has released an official announcement of his return as Superman, and promises hat he’s going to be reprising the character in future DC films. Here’s Cavill’s post:
Cavill also teases his Superman future with, “The image you see on this post, and what you saw in Black Adam are just a very small taste of things to come.”
Ever since the release of 2017’s Justice League, it seemed that the DCEU had been scrambling to get its footing, and one of the consequences was that Cavill’s future as Superman was left up in the air. While rumors were going around that WB was done with Cavill, Cavill himself kept putting up hope for the fans over the years, and now it looks like all the waiting has paid off.
“I want to thank you guys most of all. Thank you for your support, and thank you for your patience. I promise it will be rewarded,” Cavill says.
We don’t know when the next Superman movie could come out, but I’m hopeful that we can expect it before 2025. I’m just crossing my fingers that we get something closer to the tone of Man of Steel rather than the more kid-centric tone of Black Adam.
In the meantime, you can watch out for Cavill’s Superman return in Black Adam now screening in theaters.
