Hellboy Reboot Allegedly in Development with Ghost Rider Director

2019’s Hellboy reboot may not have been able to take the franchise off the ground again, but Millennium Media is going to have another stab at the IP.

Discussing Film reports that a new Hellboy movie is now in development, and director Brian Taylor (Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Gamer) has been hired to take the helm. We don’t have any details of where the story could go, but it’s very likely we’ll just be seeing more of Hellboy doing the supernatural espionage for the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense.

Though the Hellboy reboot certainly wasn’t perfect, I thought that David Harbour was wonderfully cast as the Right Hand of Doom. He has all the sarcasm and personality down, and the character seems to have fun despite being trained as a weapon since he was a child.

Admittedly, there are still some that are hoping for Guillermo del Toro to finish his trilogy of films, but at this point, I think Ron Perlman is old enough that he wouldn’t want to have to undergo a tiresome makeup process and jump around and fight all kinds of monsters.

That being said, Golden Army did end with the tease of Hellboy becoming a father himself, and it’s kind of a shame that we never really got to see where that story was going.

Personally, I prefer they just continue with Harbour, but who knows, maybe they have something in mind that will solidify the Hellboy brand as a blockbuster IP. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
