Killing Eve will be presenting new characters as The Crown stars Harriet Walter and Danny Sapani join the cast of the show’s season 3. Unfortunately, there has been little to nothing revealed about what their roles would be or what Season 3 would cover.
As fans of the show could remember, the season 2 finale of Killing Eve left off with a cliffhanger. Carolyn (Fiona Shaw) seemingly betrayed Eve (Sandra Oh). And Villanelle (Jodie Comer) shot Eve before leaving her for dead. This comes as the mysterious organization of the 12 became more present in the narrative as well as the entirety of MI6. And this might be where Walter and Sapani come in.
Aside from The Crown, Sapani is known for his role in Harlots and MotherFatherSon. Walter, on the other hand, is known for her role as Caroline Collingwood on HBO’s Succession. And she was also in this years The Spanish Princess.
Continuing the Legacy of Killing Eve
As Killing Eve starts production on Season 3, Fear the Walking Dead writer Suzanne Heathcote takes over as the new showrunner according to TheWrap. She takes on the baton from actress-author Emerald Fennell in the show’s tradition of passing each season to a new female writing voice. Season 3 will be executive produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Sandra Oh, Damon Thomas, Gina Mingacci, Lee Morris, and Sally Woodward Gentle. Designated Survivor producer Jeff Melvoin will also be joining to executive produce. Nige Watson will be serving as producer.
Just recently, Killing Eve was nominated for nine Emmy awards including a Best Drama Series nomination. Comer and Oh are up for the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category. They are up against Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke, How To Get Away With Murder’s Viola Davis, This Is Us’ Mandy Moore, House of Cards’ Robin Wright, and Ozark’s Laura Linney. Shaw, on the other hand, is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. The series is also in the running for awards for writing, production design, casting, editing, and directing.
Killing Eve is based on Luke Jennings’ 2018 thriller novel Codename Villanelle. The sequel Killing Eve: No Tomorrow was published earlier this year in March. Though the central story remains the same, the tv series has separated from the novel on multiple occasions dealing with gender swaps and adding non-canon characters.
Killing Eve is produced by Sid Gentle Films for BBC America. Endeavor Content handles international sales.
