Green Lantern Corps: Writer David Goyer Rumored As Possible Director

It’s one busy week for the “DC Extended Universe.” In an attempt to keep up with its rival “Marvel Cinematic Universe,” heavy chunks of news have been dropping all over the web. Now, we’ve just learned of an update on the “Green Lantern Corps” movie.
Earlier this week, we knew that “The Flash” will be moved up to make way for “Aquaman.” Another unspecified DC film is scheduled to release along with “Aquaman” in 2018. Earlier today, ScreenRant reported that Jaume-Collet Serra is joining the director hunt for “Suicide Squad 2.” With a packed roster of films all beginning in various stages of development, updates have been hitting fans at a very alarming rate.
Green Lantern Corps: Is Goyer Capable?
The film has a long way to go before its projected 2020 release. The script is being written by David Goyer and Justin Rhodes, as Warner Bros. continues with the search for actors who will play Hal Jordan and John Stewart. So far, the studio hasn’t announced a director for “Green Lantern Corps” until now, at least. Jeff Sneider from Tracking-Board said that his sources say Goyer could end up being the director. For DC and Green Lantern fans, this is not very enlightening to hear.
But in Goyer’s defense, he’s got a pretty good grasp when it comes to writing for the DC Universe, having penned the movies “Batman Begins,” “Batman V Superman,” “Man of Steel” and “The Dark Knight.” But when it comes to directing, it’s where things for Goyer get a little bit sketchy. Over the course of his career, he’s directed films like “The Invisible” and “The Unborn.”Those two.
As far as directing a film is concerned, Goyer does not have the premier track record to be given the helm for a DC movie, especially “Green Lantern Corps.” It’s weird how Warner Bros. has him on the running list given how there are countless filmmakers out there who can execute a better job of directing any DC movie. Remember that the studio must make this a certified hit, given how they practically maimed and mangled “Green Lantern” back in 2011.
But nonetheless, it’s better for fans to take this with a grain of salt, as the studio has not confirmed who the director would be yet. But if ever they go with Goyer for the film, then they’d have to prepare for a storm of angry fanboys rampaging across the internet.
