Grease probably doesn’t need a remake, but Paramount+ is giving the series a prequel treatment, specifically focused on the girl group of the Pink Ladies. Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies is set to premiere this April, and we have a new music video showcasing the main characters.
Check out Grease is the Word:
Here’s the synopsis for the series:
In 1954, four years before the original Grease, before rock ‘n’ roll ruled and before the T-Birds were the coolest in the school. It follows four fed-up outcasts who dare to have fun on their own terms, sparking a moral panic that will change Rydell High forever.
We don’t know exactly where this series lands when it comes to the canon of the film, but we should expect this show to feature a whole different clique of cool guys and gals—them being the T-Birds and the Pink Ladies.
Looking at the music video though, not only are we expecting some top notch vocal talent with the cast, but we should also expect some extensive dance numbers with these massive troupes of 50s teens. Though I expect the series to have its own original songs, I’ll admit I am hoping that we get some takes on classic numbers from the original Grease.
Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies is set to stream on Paramount+ on April 6.
