Will Gotham City Sirens The Movie Be Inspired By The Comic book?

The criticism on the directing style of David Ayer may have stained the quality of DC’s “Suicide Squad,” but it hasn’t lost its entertaining appeal for sure. Regardless, director David Ayer is back with a new project with the favored Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) herself. Instead of a second edition to the famed villainous “Suicide Squad,” the crew seems to want to hit a different angle. And a different angle, they will hit. “Gotham City Sirens” is a spinoff of “Suicide Squad” by means of hotshot female villains instead of male criminals.

Gotham City Sirens could-be characters: Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Black Mask

There has been no announcement nor evidence that the movie will base its storyline on the comics. But if it will, we may expect an interesting plot.

The Comic Book series “Gotham City Sirens” narrates the story of Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and Black Mask as they engage in an unlikely friendship with one another. In the city of Gotham, these three mischievous friends attempt to do some crime fighting on their own. But because all they’ve done in their past was to steal jewelry, formalize deadly toxins and get a little nuts, they end up in silly situations.

Harley Quinn has been regarded as Poison Ivy’s recurring partner in crime. So it wouldn’t be odd to see them together in “Gotham City Sirens.” And with Catwoman rolling around, we just about have ourselves a dark but comical trio.

These three also have their own little dramas to face in the comic book. Especially when it comes to their love lives: Harley with Joker, Catwoman with Batman, and Poison Ivy with Riddler.

So it’s only natural to see Joker and Batman in the movie. Joker is a huge part of who Harley is. And if this movie wants to dig deep and introduce Harley as the lead star in the movie, then shouldn’t he show up? Hopefully, he does. And cross your fingers that it’s still Jared Leto.

In Leaks by DCEU on Reddit, a character called The Black Mask is making an appearance. It seems that this character will be the antagonist. They’ve also labeled the best actor to do the job: Joel Edgerton. The Black Mask or Roman Sionis is described to be a ruthless and careless business executive and mafia boss who had a vendetta against Bruce Wayne and not to Batman.

Gotham City Sirens might premiere in 2018 with DC film Aquaman

“Aquaman,” “Gotham City Sirens” and “The Batman” were all prospective 2018 DC films. But with “The Batman” schedule pushed back, only the two will remain. So far, “Aquaman” has been the only DC film that was set in that year. They are now waiting for another to fill the slot. If the shooting for “Gotham City Sirens” begins this Summer, it might be just in time for airing this 2018.
