Good Morning Call Season 1 Episode 7 Recap – Baby, It’s Cold Outside

While Nao and Uehara eat dinner, Yuri visits them and tells them she is getting a divorce. She says that Takuya, Uehara’s older brother cheated on her and had an affair. Uehara can’t believe what he is hearing. He says his brother will never cheat on Yuri. Yuri asks Nao and Uehara to let her stay with them that night. Uehara leaves that night and goes to talk to his brother. It is just Nao and Yuri that night. Yuri eats the food that Nao prepared. She approaches Nao and tries to kiss her. Nao looks at the table and figures out that Yuri must have drank a lot. The next morning, Yuri apologizes to Nao for kissing her.

Nao walks to school with Yuri. They see Uehara on his way to school as well. He scolds the two for not answering his phone calls. He pulls Yuri to the side and talks to her. Nao notices that Yuri is no longer wearing her wedding ring. Daichi sees Nao and asks her if Yuri is the girl that Uehara likes. Because Daichi just confessed to Nao, she still feels a bit awkward around him so she lies that she has to go to Marina. Daichi asks her to walk home together later after school but Nao says she can’t.

Nao finally tells her friends that Daichi confessed to her. Uehara goes to Nao’s classroom and asks her to talk in private. He tells her that he is going back to their house, but will only stay until their family problem gets fixed. He tells Nao that having Yuri at their place is driving him nuts so he feels like he has to leave. When it was just Marina and Mitsusihi, Mitsuishi admits that Daichi is kinder than Uehara.

After school, Daichi tells Nao that there is a place he likes to take her to. Nao refuses but Daichi reminds her of all the favors he did for her. Daichi takes Nao to a restaurant and pretends that he doesn’t want to eat the food. He lets her eat the sundae served on their table. Nao realizes she ate most of the sundae and tells Daichi he can have the rest. Daichi tries to give Nao a scoop of the sundae but Nao shakes her head.

He walks her home and Nao takes the chance to tell Daichi that she likes Uehara. Daichi tells her that he knows what Nao feels, but he will still wait for her. He will wait for Nao’s feelings to change, like how Nao is waiting for Uehara’s feelings to change. Daichi says goodbye, and Marina runs to Nao to comfort her.

The two friends talk, and Marina tells Nao that Mitsuishi thinks Daichi will treat Nao nicer than Uehara will. Nao defends Ueahara and tells Marina that he is a kind person as well. After hearing her friend defend Uehara, Marina says that she will support Nao. But then she gets mad when she finds out what is going on inside the house. She tells Nao to take immediate action because she only has limited time. 

Nao takes her friend’s advice and prepares lunch for Uehara again. She runs to his classroom the next day and takes him to eat at the cafeteria. Uehara is eating the food that Nao prepared when they see Abe getting turned down by a girl once more.

To Nao’s disappointment, Abe walks to their table. After seeing Abe get so sad, Nao pulls him and tells him to eat the lunch she prepared. Uehara grabs the food in front of Abe and tells him that he will eat everything. While Nao and Uehara argue, Abe gives the two of them a strange look.

Yuri gives Nao a list of the things that Uehara likes. She tells her that with the list she gave Nao will finally be able to capture Uehara’s heart. Yuri admits to Nao that she was so crazy in love with Uehara’s older brother. She even adds that Takuya is more handsome than Uehara. She goes to Uehara’s room to look for photos to show to Nao. Nao just waits outside the door, even when Yuri pats the bed and tells her to sit beside her. Nao says that because it is Yuri, Uehara probably won’t mind, but it will be different for her. She tells Yuri that she has to buy groceries and then she leaves.

While Yuri is walking outside, she bumps into Abe. Abe recognizes her as the “pretty woman” who was talking to Uehara the other day. He tells Yuri that he is friends with Uehara and Nao. Abe takes Yuri to the ramen shop where he tells Isshi that he is getting up the courage to ask Yuri out. Yuri asks Abe what he thinks of Nao and Uehara’s relationship. Abe says he thinks Uehara likes Nao as well. 

While walking home, Daichi sees Nao carrying a lot of grocery bags so he helps her. They walk home together and by accident, meet the others at an intersection. Since they are all there, Yuri insists they throw a party. They also ask Marina and Mitsuishi to come over.

They share the food that Yuri paid for. While they are having fun, Yuri receives a call from her husband’s ex-girlfriend. She excuses herself and goes inside Nao’s room. Mitsuishi and Marina go home as well. Nao gets worried about Yuri and she checks in on her. Yuri tells Nao that the person who called her was her husband’s ex-girlfriend. After they broke up, they still see each other as friends. Yuri adds that Takuya even lied to her just to meet with his ex-girlfriend at night. 

While Yuri uses Nao’s room for the night, Uehara has to let Abe use his room because Abe complained that his stomach hurts. When Daichi realizes that if he leaves, Nao and Uehara will be left alone sleeping in the living room, he decides to stay. Uehara and Daichi play video games to stay awake, but soon both of them fall asleep. Nao can’t sleep that night. Uehara wakes up and offers Nao milk pudding. They laugh and talk without realizing that Daichi wakes up and sees the two of them. 

In the morning while Nao is still sleeping, Daichi asks Uehara to walk with him since Uehara will go back home. Outside, Daichi tells Uehara that he will not stand and watch as Uehara hurts Nao. Nao, on the other hand, wakes up and hears someone ringing the bell. She opens the door and a man who introduced himself as Takuya greets her. 

Our Thoughts:

Nao used to get jealous when she sees Uehara and Yuri talking. Yuri is married but Nao can’t still stop herself from thinking too much. Now we can imagine how nervous she probably got when Yuri announced she is getting a divorce. In Yuri’s case, we think it is understandable that she got mad when she found out that Takuya lied to her just to meet her ex-girlfriend. They are married now so even if Takuya thinks there is nothing wrong with what he is doing, he should have been more sensitive and thought of how Yuri would feel. 

We know that Daichi likes Nao a lot, but we think he should just move on. Nao looks like she’s head over heels with Uehara. Even if he treats her badly, she just acts all cute about it and moves forward. She was surrounded by nice guys, but she still falls for the mean one. This isn’t really any different from the other shows where the girl is clumsy and funny, while the guy is perfect and popular. Since this is only gonna go on with Nao chasing Uehara, we hope to see something that will turn their world upside down, to make the show interesting.
