Former 'Glee' Actor Mark Salling Dead at 35 Due to Apparent Suicide

Former “Glee” actor Mark Salling, who played bad boy rocker Puck in the show, was found dead Tuesday after an apparent suicide. Salling was 35.
According to TMZ, authorities found Salling hanging from a tree near a baseball field creek in Sunland, California. Michael Proctor, the actor’s lawyer, confirmed his death to USA Today. “I can confirm that Mark Salling passed away early this morning,” Proctor said. “Mark was a gentle and loving person, a person of great creativity, who was doing his best to atone for some serious mistakes and errors of judgment. He is survived by his mother and father, and his brother. The Salling family appreciates the support they have been receiving and asks for their privacy to be respected.”
Salling pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography in 2017 and was awaiting his sentence this March. The actor was arrested in 2015 after the Los Angeles Police Department found 50,000 images of child porn on his computer and flash drive. He was then charged in May 2016, which Salling later admitted in October 2017. Salling faced a prison sentence of four to seven years and would have to register as a sex offender.
As Salling’s death is due to an apparent suicide, the final cause of the actor’s death will be determined by autopsy.
