Glass Onion Director Confirms Benoit Blanc is Queer

We had been introduced to Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc in Knives Out back in 2019, and he’s set to come back with the sequel Glass Onion. With director Rian Johnson currently doing press for the film, he’s confirmed one thing about Blanc as a character that some people have been speculating about for a while.
As per Insider, Johnson has confirmed that Benoit Blanc is queer. When asked during the press conference about it, Johnson replied, “Yes, he obviously is.” While it hasn’t been revealed in the article, the movie indicates that Blanc is living with a man, and Johnson adds, “And there’s nobody in the world I can imagine in bringing me more joy for Benoit Blanc to be with.”
We don’t know who this mystery actor is, but I can suspect that it could be Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who has appeared in all of Johnson’s works in small and big roles. If not Gordon-Levitt, maybe Justin Theroux who did make a cameo in The Last Jedi as the master codebreaker; he does seem about the right age to be paired with someone like Craig.
Personally, I’m hoping that it’s former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan, but I think that would be too meta and distracting that it might pull people out of the movie—kind of like John Krasinski as Reed Richards in Doctor Strange 2.
So far, Glass Onion has been receiving sparkling reviews, and I can’t wait to catch it on Netflix. Good thing the movie is also looking to release in theaters Nov. 23.
Catch Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery when it starts streaming on Dec. 23.
